Mark 5:25 - A woman in the crowd

The crowd mentioned is following Jesus. There are so many people that they are bumping against each other and against Jesus. In The story we are told about a ruler and a woman. The rulers daughter is dying and the woman is bleeding. He is powerful and she is pitiful. He has status and she has none. However they both have the same need. They have a need for Jesus to do a work in their lives.

Many of us will identify with that woman. We are ordinary people. There is nothing about us that makes us stand out in a crowd. But that can change once we acknowledge our need of Jesus. Once this woman realised what Jesus could do for her she kept her eyes on Him. She pushed her way through the crowd to get to Him. Those close by her tried to push her out of the way but she didnt stop. She kept going; she kept stretching out until she could touch Him. And that was when she was healed.

I feel that is what we need to do. The first step is to acknowledge that we cant do things in our own strength. We need to recognise where our strength comes from and keep our eyes on Jesus. We need to make an effort to learn more about Him so that we can have a really good relationship with Him. Pondering on the verses we look at each week is a good way to start. Sometimes we will have to ignore those around us who, for whatever reason, are trying to stop us getting to Jesus. Keep going. Reach out and touch Jesus because He wants to touch you even if you are just a woman in the crowd.
