John 10:10 - Life to the full

'I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.'

This week I took a collection of things to N.I.M.O.S. with me and asked the question are they dead or alive. Some of them were fairly easy. An old Easter card is definitely not alive. A chocolate egg was not alive but how about a chicken egg. The debate became quite long and almost heated when we started to discuss an old potato and a rather fine onion.

The potato had the start of a shoot and certainly would have grown a bit. However, in order for it to become a really strong healthy potato plant it would need a growing medium and the addition of sun and water.

As for the fine onion Kath dug around determined to find a shoot because she wanted to prove that it was alive, but no shoot was to be found. We decided that if I had left it in the vegetable rack in my kitchen it probably would have sprouted but like the potato it needed sun and water if it was going to grow really strong and healthy.

Many of the people in the world are like the potato and the onion. You cannot deny that they are alive but they arent at their strongest and healthiest physically and spiritually because they have not given their lives to Jesus. It is only with the addition of the Holy Spirit that they will  have life and have it to the full. In this weeks verse it is Jesus who is speaking and we are the they mentioned. It is His intention that we should lead full lives and should be at our strongest and healthiest both physically and spiritually. It is my hope that this is your experience and that you can join me in praising the lord!
